Makeover For McColl’s Bartuf completes refurbishment of 300 stores

Source: Bartuf Group   Bartuf Systems, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of retail display systems, has completed a nationwide refurbishment of 300 branches of McColl’s and Martin’s newsagents and convenience stores.

Martin McColl, the UK’s leading neighbourhood retailing group which has more than 1,250 stores across the UK, briefed Bartuf to help the company increase sales of newspapers and magazines.

Bartuf managed the £300,000 project, supplying and installing a variety of bays, including 11-tier magazine bays and 64-face wave display for specialist titles, as well as vertical newsstands, allowing McColl’s to increase the volume of its stock and improve ease of access and visibility for the customer. The refit also included bespoke confectionary, crisps and snack bays to encourage further impulse sales.

It is hoped the completed refurbishment will create an average 5% sales increase over the coming year.

Peter Haskey, Business Development Manager for Bartuf, said: “Martin McColl Retail Group (MMRG) tasked us with increasing their news and magazine sales space and providing a fresh look in each of the stores.

“Our 11-tier magazine bays maximise the retail space available and enable the retailer to widen the range stocked in the existing space. The wave display gives great prominence to more specialist magazine titles and has really added a new dimension to MMRG’s stores.

“Working in conjunction with associate suppliers we supplied, installed and managed the whole nine-month project and the client is delighted with the new look and feel of the stores.”
